Sara and Jay visit

Boy, it sure has been a busy/whirlwind weekend!
My best friend/roommate from college Sara, and her boyfriend Jay, came to visit Easter weekend. They live in Alaska; but were coming down to see the new puppy they are getting. Jay hadn't been here since Mircea was a baby, so he got to meet Casper and marvel at how big Mircea is!
This is Sara and Jay

For all of you curious about the puppy: the puppy's name is Laney, she is adorable! They are quite excited about their puppy, and we are quite happy for them--it sounds like they have picked a good one!--We are planning to visit them sometime this year, so we will be able to meet their puppy and their dog that they already have.

Here is how the weekend went. . .
Friday evening, Sara and Jay arrive. Bryan picks them up at the airport, while the rest of us sleep. Saturday morning, we all have breakfast together; then Sara and Jay head off to go meet their puppy, and we go do some shopping.
When Sara and Jay come back home, we see pics of their dog, and Bryan and Jay play a little MarioKart Wii, while we wait for Cea and Casper to finish napping.
After the nap, we all head to Cabella's, where we shop and grab a bite to eat for dinner. We head home and to bed. (Sara and I enjoyed the ride to and from Cabella's, as we drove the car together, and Bry and Jay had both kids with them in the truck.)
Here are some pics from Cabella's . . .

I don't think Bry's $100.00 gift card will cover what is inside the basket!

Casper hanging out, while everyone else looks around.

He's so cute, I have to take another picture and then another and another. . .

Mircea loves the escalator!
Here I come!!

Sunday, we all got up to eat the cinnamon rolls that I got up early to make/slaved over the hot stove. (Thank you Pillsbury doughboy!) We all went to Sunday meeting--on time and looking sharp!
What a cute couple!
Doesn't Sara look fabulous! (uh, you look handsome too Jay!)

After meeting we had a huge lunch: Pork chops, salad, potatoes au gratin, green beans, beets, peas, bread w/ hummus. (A quick shout out to Candy--thanks for the potatoes au gratin recipe, it is awesome, and I love that it takes about 30 minutes to make! They were very yummy, and it is the second time we have made them since you left!)

After dinner, we lazed about chatting about lots of stuff--like their house, remodeling, etc. (boring old people stuff!), and made more plans for when we go out to visit. We showed them a signing time video, and found out Jay took sign language classes in high school. Mircea then watched a bit of "The Sound of Music" movie we just got her; as I had taught her the song "Raindrops on Roses".

Fooling around! Mircea ate up all the attention!

Lots of giggles
Watching "Sound of Music" and of course singing along!

Casper loved all the attention too!

Jay with one of his new fishing reels!
Here he is posing nicely rather than goofy!

Here is his other reel! I personally didn't see much of a difference, but he insists they are!

Casper, Bryan/Daddy and Cea. Casper is posing rather than watching the movie.

Packing up the bags!

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, so Sara and Jay had to leave for the airport. Mircea cried when they left because she thought "Daddy was going with them to see the puppy!" Thanks for coming to visit!

what Cea said when we were leaving Ikea . . .

We went to Ikea today to buy some storage shelving. (Just like the ones we saw when you were out Candy--and Steve took a pic of them for us.)
Mircea got to play in the balls again, and she colored a picture. She had a lot of fun.

Anyway, on our way out to the car Mircea nonchalantly asks Bryan, "Can I drive, please?!"
It totally cracked me up--I thought we had at least 12 more years before we would hear that!

Dinner and an egg hunt!

Here are some fun pics of the fabulous supper we haSunday and the little egg hunt held after! We had a great time, and the food was superb as usual! Thanks Mike and Carol for the invite. . .

And then the egg hunt: The dad's hid the candy eggs/jelly beans
Each kid got a bucket with a chocolate bunny!
They used the bucket to collect all they found!

Casper--He had no clue what was going on--but had a great time anyway! :)
Jamie--his "eggs" were hidden in a lot harder places than the younger ones. The lamp held the last eggs of the hunt.

All the kids with their buckets.
(It was impossible to get a picture with them all looking with smiles.
But I suppose that this is a more typical picture!)

There was a little girl. . .

There was a little girl,
Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good,
She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

Who looks like who? Family traits:

If you see Bryan holding Casper, you might say something like: "Wow, Casper looks just like Bryan!" or "Hey, Check out Bryan and Bryan Jr." . . . you get the point.
Both Mircea and Casper definitely look like Bryan!
Then if you saw Bry's brother Craig's kids: Kip, Karena and Clark; you would find that our kids look alike as well. --Strong genes!
To keep with this theme, I am posting a pic of Mircea at 7 months, and a picture of Casper. I pretty much feel that Mircea looks like Casper with hair, and Casper looks like a bald Mircea.
What do you think?
