2/14/2010 Mircea's Birthday Cupcakes

Sunday
Today we made Mircea's birthday cupcakes. Last year I made her a really pretty princess cake--she asked that I make one for this year as well. However, I decided that we would do cupcakes that she could decorate instead. Then, I thought--why not use her polly pockets, and make mini princess cakes?!?!?! So we did. . .
And. . . now that the cupcakes are made, we need a party. . . so we had Grandpa come over for dinner, and then the Young's joined us for cake and presents. It was a fun evening.

Mircea decorated the regular cupcakes
and then did a taste test to make sure they were okay. . . and they were!

So I tried 3 different "bottoms": Snow White's bottom was made in a pampered chef prep bowl, Blondie's was 2 smaller cupcakes stacked, and the 3rd (little mermaid) was a big cupcake (i overfilled the tin).

Snow White has been completed.

All 3 girls are decorated.
Now all we need is a cupcake for the candles

Ta Da!

I am quite proud. Mircea helped shake on the sprinkles, decided the colors, etc.
We had putting these together.

Here is the birthday girl!

She is quite happy with the end result.
Bryan is in the back cutting up the pizza.

Papa is here for dinner!

Presents--Mircea loves her Polly Pockets! Thank you Young Family!

Marina and Dakota help little dude open his present--a laughing Elmo--an instant hit!
Thanks for thinking of him!

Well, at the last moment, we decided not to eat the princesses tonight--
and you will find out in the next post why!

Happy Belated Birthday to your beautiful princess, and also to you two! What a nice treat to take her to the Ballet for her birthday. And it's good you don't forget about YOUR birthdays :-). I was glad to see your blog again.

I just noticed now what coincidence. Not only that Mircea has a "Romanian" name, but the colors she chose for her cake are the colors of the Romanian flag (red, yellow and blue). You should take her to Romania some day, ha ha.

And about our kids not having an icecream cone before, it doesn't mean they'd never had icecream in their life. The cone is usually too big for them, and also MESSY, so I prefere a less messy kind. But of course the icecream cone will be ok too every once in a while :-)

We have to get together some time again.
